A Year of Challenges & Changes

The year began busier than most. Usually after our Christmas season we get a chance to kick back and relax. This past January reminded me of when we bought the Gallery and were renovating all winter. The building that housed my classes and painting area was sold and I had to move out after nine years. So we began moving all of the stuff I had accumulated besides what I actually used and put it in the garbage behind the Studio.

After much figuring and painting and renovating and a little building and a little more painting, we got it all figured out. Did I mention we moved out January 1st and my class session resumed the third week of January. It was a busy month. Everything worked out well except that I was out of a place to set up my painting area. Marty told me not to worry that he was going to renovate the shed in the backyard. I thought he was kidding, the shed? The one in our backyard? The alley cat motel? He assured me he had given it a lot of thought and that it would work out fine, and he said this with a straight face. So I began to look for Studio space, quickly.

Well what can I say, I should have taken a picture of the old shed. A before and after thing. Marty didn’t really let me know what he was going to do, he mentioned some windows, a wood stove, and that he would make it look like our house. Well he’s almost done and I have to say this is going to be a great place to paint. The ceilings are high, with plenty of windows, eleven I think, so the lighting is great. I am really looking forward to setting up my space out there. I’ve been sneaking out there in the mornings to have my tea. Very quiet, a lot of sawdust, but very quiet.
